Yalí-Marie Williams, Soprano
An exceptional young singer at the beginning of her career, Yalí-Marie Williams, born in Puerto Rico has already achieved success in opera roles as Violetta in La Traviata for L’Opera de Montreal, Manitoba Opera, Opera Festival of New Jersey, Connecticut Grand Opera, Opera de Puerto Rico, Jacksonville Symphony and Annapolis Opera. Other roles include Anna Maurant in Street Scene for the Aspen Music Festival, Desdemona in Otello with Tampa Opera, Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffman with Tulsa Opera, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte with Hawaii Opera, Marguerite in Faust with Chautauqua Opera, and the principal soprano lead of Pontalba in Thea Musgrave’s world premier Louisiana Purchase with New Orleans Opera. She has also sung Musetta in La Bohème with Florentine Opera and Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly with Annapolis Opera, Opera de Puerto Rico and Birmingham Opera, Giorgetta in Il Tabarro with Washington Concert Opera, Sour Angelica in Il Trittico and Desdemona in Otello with Opera de Puerto Rico and the Westfield Symphony.
Her Concert repertoire includes Soprano solo in Verdi’s Requiem and Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with New Mexico Symphony, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and Ninth Symphony for the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico and Concert of Arias with Tenor Placido Domingo.
Ms. Williams is a winner of Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition in 1999. She holds a Master of Music Degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The Juilliard School in New York City. In addition, she just made her debut with Los Angeles Opera singing Luisa Fernanda sharing the stage with Maestro Placido Domingo as Vidal Hernando. Ms. Williams has worked with a number of notable conductors, including Anton Coppola, Federico Cortese, David Agler, Eugene Kohn, Stephen Lord, Ron Gretz, Robert Lyall, Theo Alcantara, James Meena, Guillermo Figueroa, Joseph Rescigno, Antony Walker and Julius Rudel. Her future engagement includes her first Lucia in Lucia di Lamermoor, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with New Orleans Opera ,Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Dominican Republic an Verdi’s Requiem in Colorado with Music of the Mountains.
